Four EMS ISD schools – Chisholm Ridge Elementary, Creekview Middle, Wayside Middle and Boswell High schools – have each earned the prestigious designation as a Purple Star Campus for their support and commitment to meeting the needs of military-connected students and their families.
“This recognition highlights our unwavering commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families,” said John Fahey, Director of College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) for the district who oversees the application process for this designation. “This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our dedicated staff and the strong community support we receive. Together, we are ensuring that all of our students have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.”
The Purple Star honor was created in 2020 by the 86th Texas Legislature and is awarded by the Texas Education Agency based on established criteria that focuses on support for families in their school community with military connections. All EMS ISD schools serve families affiliated with military service, especially given the community’s close proximity to the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth and the district’s partnership with the Base.
Krystle Green, Principal of Chisholm Ridge Elementary, shared her excitement for this designation and what it means for their school community.
“We are proud to represent elementary schools in our district with this honor and be one of the few in our region,” she said. “Our commitment to supporting military-connected families will only grow stronger and we are excited to continue supporting our military community through our partnerships, activities and events.”
Each Purple Star Campus receives a designation badge to display on campus and the school website. They also will be featured on the web page.
The four EMS ISD campuses recognized this fall are the first in the district to apply for this special designation. Fahey said that additional campuses across the district plan to apply in the future, with the goal for all campuses to be honored for their support of military families.
